Under the general supervision of the Farm Manager, you, as the Nursery Quality Lead, are responsible for coordinating plant quality control according to Driscoll's established protocols. You support data collection on scouting, plant quality, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) as required by Driscoll's teams. You also assist in investigating complaints and claims.

You are responsible for compiling accurate records, 3PL and internal quality progress updates, and reports, and aid in the implementation of the quality strategy for the nursery. You assist the Cultivation Manager in producing high-quality plant material of all types within the required quality and timeframe.
You spend a large percentage of your time in the greenhouse and in the field, where you work directly with cultivation managers and breeders.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Train seasonal staff according to written protocols on scouting and quality control, including awareness of plant hygiene;
  • Ensure all collected internal database data is error-free and complete;
  • Provide support to visiting customers, growers, and visitors;
  • Assist with recommendations and adjustments for crop protection and fertilizers within the IPM program;
  • Help monitor and develop methods to ensure plant quality;
  • Support in taking samples for monitoring plant health and quality;
  • Provide assistance with research activities in the nursery as needed;
  • Ensure all necessary equipment is in good condition, maintained/calibrated, and available for staff to perform their tasks;
  • Ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with Driscoll’s health and safety policy and workplace health and safety regulations;
  • Follow the company’s policies and practices and represent Driscoll's in an ethical and professional manner in all interactions with employees, government agencies, growers, customers, etc.

  • A completed relevant education (e.g., Plant Sciences);
  • At least 2 years of professional work experience in horticulture;
  • Possess technical expertise in substrate/fertigation and best management practices in a field and greenhouse environment;
  • Continuous improvement mindset;
  • Excellent written and communication skills;
  • Good command of English is required;
  • Technical writing skills to develop and document SOPs/BMPs;
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Valid European driver's license.
