In this role you are responsible for the RAJA Office product assortment, service offer and vendor strategy, OEM and Own Brand, for furniture across all European markets in which Raja operates. You will play a critical role to drive cost, margin and sales improvement in this category through a strong management of costs, selling prices, supply chain effectiveness and sales strategy.

From your professional background you will bring a strategic vision for category development and a proven track record in sourcing, purchasing and assortment strategy.

As the Senior Manager Purchasing & Assortment for the Furniture Category, you will lead a stable and experienced team of three managers. This team consists of a manager with German nationality (who has been with the company for three years), along with two experienced assistants, one German and one Dutch. You will be responsible for the assortment, the purchasing conditions and the selling prices of around 10,000 furniture items, sold predominantly online to B2B end users.. You will provide senior leadership in defining strategic direction, category management and supplier negotiations, ensuring an optimized and profitable product assortment for our European markets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Viking category & purchasing management: Select the correct assortment, ensure the best purchasing conditions and optimal selling prices for the 7 markets of Viking.
  • Raja Office purchasing management: Ensure the optimal purchasing conditions are gained to support the 10 markets of Raja Office.
  • Raja Office Category & Supplier Strategy: Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Furniture category, focusing on B2B office furniture (including desks, chairs, storage and other office solutions), with an emphasis on selling direct and online to B2B end-users.
  • Translate the category, assortment and vendor strategies into an annual operating plan, including assortment, sales, profitability and vendor targets. 
  • Own Brand development: You will own the own brand Viking assortment for the category, defining the products, vendors, tender cycles, negotiations and supply performance to ensure own brand products are driving growth and profitability across all Raja markets and are available on time, to the agreed specifications.
  • Supplier Management: Management of around 100 suppliers, including selection, contract management, cost negotiations & delivery performance.  Overall forecast, demand and availability across all Raja Office markets in conjunction with Supply-Chain.
  • Organisation: Manage all forms of contractual agreements, ensuring they are maintained, stored and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage your team of three managers, ensuring they are well-coached to achieve operational excellence in sourcing, negotiations, and assortment planning.
  • Online and Contract: Support the needs of all customers, including mid-large accounts which may require a specified assortment.  Work with Sales to supply specified products, big deal/tender support requests, in line with agreed commercial criteria.
  • Stakeholder management Build strong relationships internally and externally, influencing key stakeholders to execute all assortment and vendor plans on time. Work in close collaboration with suppliers, Merchandising, Product Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain and Finance to maximise business results.
Functie-eisen
 
  • Category management experience: A proven track record of successfully developing a B2B product category with an extensive supplier and product base.
  • Purchasing skills: strong background in supplier management and contractual negotiation with a diverse array of local/international suppliers providing branded/own-branded products.
  • B2B online: Ideally, the preferred candidate will have experience of operating within the B2B world and of selling direct to B2B end users (retail sector experience could help).
  • Leadership: Experience in leading a team of managers, including coaching and development.
  • Furniture Industry Experience: Experience in the furniture industry is a plus.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. German is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and turn trends and market information into opportunities for the organization.
  • International Experience: Experience in an international, dynamic work environment with diverse markets.

Arbeidsvoorwaarden Viking offers a package fitting a senior European role with major responsibilities:
  • Annual bonus up to 17%.
  • Mobility allowance of €500 gross per month.
  • 36 days off (24 vacation days + 12 ADV days).
  • Start with a one?year contract; intention is to go for permanent.
  • Two month probation period.
